A TISH report is an evaluation of a property’s condition that is conducted by a professional inspector.
The report is designed to provide the buyer with an accurate assessment of the property’s condition, including any potential problems or repairs that may need to be addressed.
In some cities, the seller is required to order a truth in housing report and provide it to prospective buyers prior to the commencement of showings.
A truth in housing report is purchased by the seller, different from a typical home inspection which is typically ordered by a buyer.
Minneapolis & Saint Paul Legislative Code requires all single family, duplex, condo, townhouse and co-op homes for sale in the city to have a Truth-in-Sale of Housing disclosure report prepared and available to prospective buyers, BEFORE showings begin.
A TISH report must be done for Contract-For-Deed sales as well.
Not all inspectors can conduct a TISH report; check minneapolismn.gov & stpaul.gov for a list of approved TISH inspectors.
